What to expect
from personal coaching
& therapy

Seldom are we properly listened to; rarely do we have the time to organise our own thoughts and priorities; very exceptionally do we truly focus on what’s important in our lives.

Coaching allows you space for these important things to happen.

What is Coaching? What is Therapy?

In a nutshell:

You talk, we both listen, you reflect and choose to do something positive.

It is a deliberate process that uses focused conversations to create an environment for individual growth, purposeful action, and sustained improvement.

My role is to create the right environment, through our relationship, to help you:
- process your history
- make some sense of your story
- understand, accept, forgive… and change
- make some positive forward progress

_

If none of this makes any sense or isn’t interesting for you, then coaching or therapy is not likely to be a good fit... just yet.

Our aim is for you to raise your self-awareness, identify choices and take positive action.

_

We will be a partnership of equals.

We will have a series of confidential, objective and productive conversations. These conversations will focus on you, and what you want to:

I recommend 6 sessions over a six month period

Of course this is entirely flexible, depending on your needs.

Our free consultancy call will help us form a plan.

Each session will last up to 1 hour

If you are local to the North East we can arrange to meet in person. However our sessions can also be successfully run by phone or video call.

What I will do…

  • Create a safe environment

  • Listen, ask focused questions, reflect back, challenge, and acknowledge

  • Assist your understanding of your ‘best self’

  • Help set your agenda in which you can grow naturally and comfortably

  • Support you to identify opportunities for experimenting with new and enhanced approaches and help identify and remove barriers to sustainable success

  • Help you to identify gaps between where you are now and where you need or want to be

  • Help you develop a strong personal action plan to close those gaps and help you to reflect on progress

  • Help you understand and anticipate risks and barriers to successful realisation of your plan

  • Help you keep your eyes on your goals and self motivation to achieve them

What I will NOT do…

Not_1.png

Solve the ‘problem’ directly for you
This may sound a little unhelpful at first, however, you will solve your own problems in your own way that works best for you and your resources.

Someone else’s solution is… exactly that.

Your own solution, devised and delivered by you, is the one we’re after. I will focus on drawing the expertise and answers from you.

Advise
My role is not to advise, which implies that I know best and that you are the lesser person. Advice-giving leads to critical conversations such as “why don’t you…?” and defensive “Yes, buts…”.

Advice-giving leads to dependency, which is not what our relationship is about. Instead, you will become self-sufficient and make progress through your own insights, ideas and positive actions.
